Belarus, UFOs, crop circles and cattle mutilations.

UFOCOM (Belarusian UFOlogical COMmunity or Ufological Committee of Belarus) is a non-commercial organization founded in 2001 in Horki, Belarus by students of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy.  It consists of volunteers that perform field, monitoring and analytical research projects. Why would agricultural students have such a strong interest in UFOs that they form the main UFO “non-governmental” organization in the country? There are two obvious answers: crop circles and cattle mutilations.

In 2005 UFOCOM became part of the Kosmopoisk international movement. Kosmopoisk is the main “non-governmental” UFO investigation organization in Russia. They are a network specializing in computer information systems use of anomalistic/UFO research. They have an annual field meeting jointly held in places notable from a researcher’s point of view. The current coordinator of UFOCOM is Ilya Butov.

UFOCOM was listed as a “destructive organization” by the Orthodox Church in 2005. UFOCOM’s former leader, Ruslan Linnik, had written some articles that led to the listing. In 2006 he withdrew from UFOCOM.

UFOCOM has groups in cities like Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, and Horki. It also utilizes individual members throughout the country and foreigners as correspondents. There are a couple unique things about UFOCOM membership.  They utilize an urban explorer team (Diggers of Brest) to research underground locations like the Brest Fortress and abandoned ancient and Soviet installations. UFOCOM also utilizes an archaeological team, ARTEFACT. ARTEFACT researches civilian, military and religious historical sites in cooperation with The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.  UFOCOM studies UFOs, crop circles, poltergeists, and meteorite impact sites.

UFOCOM sponsored 3 research projects that we know of. Infra-S, Tonnel and Dromos.  Infra-S was a project in 2008 that was a travelling infrared phenomena instrumental study using amateur photoelectronic devices. They found unidentified LIDAR beam-like sources with about a .4 Hz amplitude variation.  Tonnel was a search for underground installations that were possibly UFO related and a study of their influence on processes in the environment.  They discovered and investigated several archaeological sites.  Dromos was an investigation of UFO hotspots suspected of being bases or nodes of ET transportation systems.  Several locations were identified.

UFOCOM has received nominations for Kosmopoisk annual awards. In 2007 volunteers received diplomas from March for Parks which was held by the Russian Biodiversity Conservation Center.  UFOCOM field research has included work at the Stolbtsovsky meteorite impact site, discovery of one of Hitler’s command bunkers, study of Kupa, a Belarusian Stonehenge and investigations of snow crop circles.

The Belarusian Agricultural Academy, the institution that the founders of UFOCOM attended offers classes including radioecological substantiation of the specialization of agricultural enterprises, development of technology for breeding farm animals and ways to increase their reproductive ability and productivity, laboratory assessment of milk quality (fat, protein, lactose, freezing point, somatic cell content, total bacterial load and species composition of bacteria), complete blood count (morphological and biochemical parameters, mineral elements) and quantitative determination of hormone levels in the blood development of methods for the treatment and prevention of diseases of young animal, obstetric and gynecological diseases of cows.                With the geopolitical climate of the world right now, further investigation could be difficult, but investigations do continue.  Do circumstances indicate that Belarus has encountered both crop circles and cattle mutilations?  Does UFOCOM’s ties to the Belarusian Agricultural Academy indicate there are official programs looking into the possible causes and effects of these phenomenon on Belarus’s crops and cattle herds?  Does Kosmopoisk’s involvement with UFOCOM indicate Russian concerns about crop circles and cattle mutilations? Further investigation by the SCREAM Anomaly Investigations Team will focus
