National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)

Gordon: “Meanwhile, the NWA kept its studio rhythm—Powerrr out of Tampa, plus the wider territory system ticking along.”

NWA Powerrr – October 11, 2026

Venue: WEDU Studios, Tampa, FL Commentary: Joe Galli, Danny Dealz, Tim Storm

Full match results:

• Alex Taylor vs. Buster (with Lockjaw Drake) Result: Taylor won by disqualification when outside interference from Drake spoiled the bout. The match served as a storyline device to explain Taylor’s absence from the main event later in the show.
• NWA United States Tag Team Championship: The Hardway (Jack Vaughn & Dalton McKenzie) (c) vs. McCords Collection (Bonez & Gilroy, with Brandon McCord) Result: Hardway retained, beating McCords Collection in a match where the challengers were largely dominated, reinforcing Vaughn and McKenzie as rugged, no‑nonsense champions.
• Natalia Markova vs. Mazzerati Result: Markova scored the win, continuing her push as a featured women’s star. The bout saw Mazzerati get some offense before Markova closed it out decisively.
• Main Event – Six‑Man Tag: The Federation of Champions (Carson Drake, Mike Mondo & Spencer Slade, with Aron Stevens & Lockjaw Drake) vs. Thrillbilly Silas Mason, Thom Latimer & Bryan Idol Result: Federation of Champions won, with Carson Drake rolling up Latimer after a match where the babyface trio largely controlled the action until late interference and opportunism swung things.

Key notes from the episode:

• The show leaned heavily on heel interference and cheating to set up future challenges, particularly around Carson Drake and Thom Latimer.
• The Hardway team continued to emerge as a quiet highlight of the tag division, with fans noting their consistency and presence.

Ed: “So while Powerrr gives us the studio stories, the territory system keeps feeding talent and angles into the main NWA orbit.”

News & rumors

• CMLL:
  • Persephone’s wins over Tessa Blanchard have quietly raised her stock, especially with AEW eyes on her.
  • Shotzi’s withdrawal from the tour has led to some reshuffling of women’s matches, but the cards have stayed strong.
• NWA:
  • The Hardway team is being talked about as a potential centerpiece of the tag division beyond Powerrr.
  • Carson Drake’s roll‑up win over Thom Latimer is expected to lead to a singles confrontation down the line.

What Happened When – Tony Schiavone

Gordon: “Before we close, let’s step away from the ring and into the headphones.”

Ed: “The What Happened When podcast, featuring Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson, continues to dig into classic territory and WCW history—long‑form conversations, watch‑alongs, and deep dives into shows Tony called or produced.”

You can find the show here: What Happened When podcast: https://www.whwMonday.com

It’s become a staple for fans who want context behind the shows we grew up on—production stories, locker room dynamics, and the little details that never made TV.

Closing from the sports desk

Ed: “So from Arena Puebla to WEDU Studios, this week gave us a lot—Persephone stacking wins in CMLL, Shotzi stepping away for family reasons, NWA’s tag scene tightening up, and Omega quietly lining up another Dome run.”

Gordon: “Ben Bishop settling into TNA, Leon Slater’s future being watched, and a podcast like What Happened When reminding us how much history sits behind every bell we hear—it all connects. Promotions build, talent moves, stories echo.”

Ed: “We’ll be right here at the sports desk when the next chapter hits. Until then, keep your notes handy, your playlists loaded, and your eyes on the canvas.”
