Sports desk weekly rundown: TNA Wrestling
Welcome back to the sports desk—today we’re locking in on TNA Wrestling as the road to Bound For Glory gets sharper and meaner.
Headlines
Maya World’s injury update Former AEW TBS Champion Maya World is officially sidelined for “a couple of months” after undergoing a procedure that was not related to an in‑ring injury. She’d been on a major run—Owen Hart tournament finalist, TBS Champion—before dropping the title to Persephone at All In London.
TNA iMPACT ratings – September 17, 2026 The Sept. 17 iMPACT drew 207,000 viewers, down 11% from the previous week’s 232,000, but up in the key 18–49 demo to 0.04 (a 33% jump from 0.03). The show still beat its trailing four‑week averages in both total viewers and demo, even as Bound For Glory ticket chatter swirls.
Persephone’s mystery challenger For AEW All Out, TBS Champion Persephone announced an open challenge that excludes Thunder Rosa, Hyan, and the injured Maya World. Reporting now points to Dani Luna—recently signed to AEW after leaving TNA—as the planned mystery challenger.
Ed at the sports desk
“Partner, TNA’s week feels like a company tightening every screw before Bound For Glory—ratings holding steady, the Nemeth brothers trying to run the place, and a main event that turned the International title picture into a three‑man car crash.”

Gordon’s match‑by‑match breakdown
Leon Slater & Nic Nemeth brawl to a no‑contact clause
The show opened with Leon Slater reminding everyone he beat Ryan Nemeth the previous week and calling out TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth for acting like a coward. Nic fired back, saying Ryan would qualify for the X‑Division match at Bound For Glory and that the brothers would “run” TNA. Ryan tried a sneak attack, but Slater saw it coming and dropped him, then went after Nic. Security couldn’t contain them, so Santino Marella imposed a no‑contact clause: if Nic touches Slater, he’s stripped of the title; if Slater touches Nic, he loses his Bound For Glory shot.
Bound For Glory X‑Division Qualifier
Ryan Nemeth def. KJ Orso KJ Orso jumped out fast—arm work, a moonsault, and submission attempts—but Ryan dragged him into deeper water. Orso nearly closed it with a crossface and a twisting splash, but Nemeth escaped, drove Orso’s shoulder into the post, and hit the Hollywood Ending for the pin, punching his ticket to the six‑way X‑Division Championship match at Bound For Glory.
Dot Combat Match
The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) def. Rich Swann & BDE Weapons and chaos from the bell: chairs, controller spots, and brawling up the ramp. Swann and BDE tried to turn the tide with creative chair offense and a big Frog Splash, but Dutch yanked BDE out of the ring and Vincent finished things with Orange Sunshine. After the bell, they pillmanized BDE’s head in a chair, leaving him laid out and the Righteous looking like a serious threat.
The Hardys call out their attackers—Syx revealed
Matt & Jeff Hardy demanded the mystery attackers show themselves. The lights glitched, the screen flickered, and two masked figures jumped them in the dark. When the lights came back, the attackers were revealed as Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer, now collectively known as Syx. The crowd reacted huge, and the Hardys closed the night promising war.
Elijah vs. Eddie Edwards
Elijah def. Eddie Edwards Eddie tried to grind Elijah down with strikes and veteran tricks, aided by Alisha Edwards at ringside. Elijah answered with rope‑walking offense, a big DDT, and a top‑rope attack. When Bryan Meyers and Bear Bronson ran in, Ricky Sosa evened the odds, allowing Elijah to hit Highwayman’s Farewell and score a clean win over a System cornerstone.
Knockouts TV Championship #1 Contender’s 4‑Way
Elayna Black def. Jada Stone, Harley Hudson & Gabby Forza This four‑way was built around Forza’s power and the others trying to out‑maneuver her. Multi‑woman suplexes, tandem offense, and a huge tower‑of‑doom spot left everyone down. As the Elegance Brand watched from the ramp, Jada Stone hit a Spark Stunner on Forza, but Elayna Black capitalized—nailing Blackout on Stone to win and become the new No. 1 contender for the Knockouts TV Championship.
TNA International Championship 3‑Way
Mustafa Ali (c) def. Jason Hotch & Trey Miguel The main event was a frantic three‑way:
- Trey Miguel hit a Canadian Destroyer to the floor and a meteora inside the ring.
- Jason Hotch landed a double Spanish Fly and a double Frog Splash on both opponents.
- Mustafa Ali, with Tasha Steelz at ringside, picked his spots.
In the closing stretch, Steelz slid the belt in; Hotch accidentally wiped her out with a crossbody, and Ali dumped him. When Miguel went for a double stomp off the top, Ali met him mid‑air with the International Championship belt, then pinned him to retain. Afterward, Ali briefly acted like he’d carry Steelz out, only to drop her and pose with the title—cementing his self‑centered edge.
Other key angles & stories this week
Rosemary vignette: A surreal segment showed Rosemary interviewing another version of herself in a psychiatric‑style setting, hinting at a layered character direction.
Daria Rae suspended: After Rae slapped Indi Hartwell, Santino revealed he’d filmed it and later announced Rae’s suspension, while granting Indi a Knockouts World Title shot at Bound For Glory—drawing visible frustration from champion Xia Brookside.
Order 4 fractures: Mustafa Ali berated Mila Moore for booking his title defense; John Skyler defended her, and later Moore quit Order 4 on the spot, with Skyler leaving alongside her. Ali handed his belt to Agent 0 and stormed off, showing cracks in the faction.
Syx vs. Hardys set in motion: The reveal of Syx as the mystery attackers gives TNA a fresh, eerie heel act and a marquee feud with the Hardys heading toward Bound For Glory.
Ed’s TNA note
“This week, TNA felt like a company where every segment had a job: build Bound For Glory, define who’s climbing and who’s crumbling, and make sure the Nemeth brothers, Mustafa Ali, and Syx all walk into October with targets on their backs.”
Gordon’s TNA note
“Between Ryan Nemeth’s qualifier, Elayna Black’s breakout win, and Ali’s opportunistic title defense, the card for Bound For Glory is taking shape around a simple idea: opportunity exists, but it’s rarely clean. TNA is leaning into that chaos.”
Independent wrestling in North Dakota (Below Zero Wrestling)
Below Zero Wrestling
North Dakota’s indie scene has a clear flagship in Below Zero Wrestling, and their calendar is busy:
October 10, 2026 – Minot, ND (The Original Bar & Nightclub, 21+) Doors at 5:30 PM, bell at 7 PM. Advertised names include Tommy Lee Curtis, Mr. InKredible, Jack Ledger, Bobby Brennan, and more.
December 5, 2026 – Bismarck, ND (Eclipse Venue, all ages) Doors at 5:00 PM, show at 6 PM, with Tommy Lee Curtis, Brandon Nytroe, Jack Ledger, Ashlynn Alexander, Nick Nelson, Bobby Brennan, and others.
Ed’s indie note
“Partner, if TNA is the national stage, Below Zero is the proving ground—cold buildings, hot crowds, and wrestlers trying to turn regional buzz into something bigger.”
Gordon’s indie note
“Keeping an eye on places like Minot and Bismarck isn’t just trivia; it’s how you spot the next wave. Today’s indie regular can be tomorrow’s X‑Division wild card or Knockouts standout.”
Closing
As TNA pushes toward Bound For Glory and North Dakota’s indie scene keeps producing hungry talent, this week’s wrestling landscape shows how every level of the sport—national, regional, and independent—feeds into the next. Momentum shifts, new faces emerge, and the road ahead looks unpredictable in all the right ways.
