“NJPW Sold to TV Asahi and CyberAgent; Bushiroad Retains STARDOM

May 27, 2026

The most intriguing element of this transaction is the inclusion of CyberAgent and its implications for the Japanese wrestling landscape.
CyberAgent is a massive Japanese entertainment and tech conglomerate that entered the wrestling space in September 2017 by purchasing DDT Pro-Wrestling.
In January 2020, CyberAgent acquired a struggling Pro Wrestling NOAH, subsequently merging NOAH, DDT, and Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW) under a single subsidiary called CyberFight.
CyberFight operates the Wrestle Universe streaming service, which hosts its core brands alongside partner promotions like Marigold, Marvelous, Sendai Girls, Michinoku Pro, and others.
CyberAgent’s 46% acquisition immediately raises questions regarding the future of NJPW World. While it might seem logical to migrate NJPW’s live events and tape library to Wrestle Universe, TV Asahi operates NJPW World and owns the other 46% of the company.
How these two media giants navigate distribution, and how closely NJPW will collaborate with the CyberFight umbrella promotions like NOAH and DDT, remain major question marks.
Notably, Bushiroad is keeping the booming Joshi promotion, STARDOM, which was completely excluded from the transaction.
Bushiroad purchased STARDOM in 2019 and initially placed it under the NJPW corporate umbrella.
In hindsight, a sign of today’s corporate restructuring came in April, when STARDOM was returned to being a wholly owned subsidiary of Bushiroad.
We will have much more analysis on this breaking story as the lead topic on this Thursday’s episode of The Flagship—streaming live Thursday night for our $10 tier subscribers!”

2. NWA World Heavyweight Championship – No Limits, Falls Count Anywhere Match – Silas Mason (c) defeated Bryan Idol
A chaotic, high-impact match saw both men exchanging chair shots, table impacts, and near falls. Idol nearly won with a double underhook suplex, but Mason countered and hit the Thrillride. NWA Worlds Champion Silas Mason Names Mick Foley and Kurt Angle as Career-Changing Influences

“Mason was asked about his early inspirations and who influenced him when he was younger. That’s when he pointed directly to Mick Foley as one of the first wrestlers who made a lasting impression on him. Mason explained that Foley stood out to him because he didn’t look like a traditional superstar, yet still found a way to connect with fans in a powerful way.

“It was Mick Foley when I was a kid. Fat guy, sweat pants, made everybody laugh, that whole thing. The Rock, Mick Foley, that whole era, but Mick Foley was one of those guys. It was never so much the hardcore stuff. It was the sympathy and could make you laugh and make you care about him. He could go from making you laugh to making you think it was that serious, like a heart attack.”

Mason didn’t stop there when discussing the people who shaped his path. He also credited Kurt Angle with pushing him to take wrestling seriously at a competitive level, something that directly impacted his life outside the ring. While reflecting on that decision, Mason explained how Angle’s success motivated him to join amateur wrestling — a move that paid off in a major way. “I joined the wrestling team because of Kurt Angle. I have two state wrestling championships because of that guy. So it would be Mick Foley and Kurt Angle.”

📰 CMLL NEWS & RUMORS

Credit: thecubsfan.com

“Mascara Dorada and Xelhua appeared at the Los Angeles Dodgers Mexican Heritage Night. I can’t tell if the emojis there are referencing the earlier announcement or are meant to tease more news.

CMLL held a CMLL versus Press soccer game on Tuesday, to promote their summer of even more Arena Mexico shows marketed towards World Cup visitors. Team CMLL lost 3-1, with Raider scoring the only goal for the luchadors. This is the only victory the press has had in 2026. The press team notably included Paul Aguilar of Fox Sports. This is Aguilar’s retirement gig; the CMLL guys were facing someone who was on the 2010 and 2014 Mexican World Cup team. Aguilar had an assist and a goal. Team CMLL included Angel de Oro (goalie, as his father famously played), Niebla Roja, Audaz, Robin, Raider, Calavera Jr. I, Capitan Suicida, Neon, Vaquero Jr., Dragon de Fuego, as well as Alexis Salazar and Jorge Livan from the press department. La Tijera has about 12 minutes of footage if you want to dig it. As an American, I’m unqualified to conduct any in-depth analysis of soccer skills. Cuauhtemoc mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega was also on hand.

When he was working in Arena Naucalpan recently, Neon recalled that he had actually participated in a tryout for IWRG, did not pass, and was now returning as a star. Neon – then Prisamatic – wrestled Alom in the 2021 Tryout competition. He received eight of fifteen possible points from judges Eterno, Black Terry, and Heddi Karaoui (who is critical of him for wrestling too much like a Mistico clone.) Mas Lucha’s Vic Martz was in the chat when the show aired and wrote that they should’ve picked Prismatic (and also Alom), so point for him. The Tryout match aired in February 2021, and Neon debuted in July 2022, so he had to wait nearly 18 months more. He also would’ve had to wait much longer had he won the IWRG tryout and signed a contract with them.”

Around the World of Pro Wrestling 5/24/26: “You’re a disgrace to the profession, Tommy!”

Credit: cagematch.net,

Who: Cactus Jack

Date: 03.10.1995

Promotion: ECW

Event: Hardcore TV #128

Feud: Raven vs Tommy Dreamer

At the time, ECW was in the midst of a hardcore wrestling boom, with Dreamer and Raven at the forefront. Cactus Jack, known for his anti-hardcore persona, was positioning himself as a purist who believed the industry had been misrepresented in the media. The promo was a direct jab at Dreamer’s persona and the extreme style ECW was promoting.

Cactus Jack: “You know, I’d like to kind of apologize for my behavior. I’m embarrassed. Certainly feel a little stupid about the way I acted on the show a few weeks ago, because I get a little emotional when I talk about wrestling, because wrestling’s been my livelihood for the past 10 years, it’s enabled me to live out my childhood dream. So for me to come out on a show such as the ECW television program and bad mouth the wrestlers there, well I’m sorry. But I think in order to understand what’s going around my head and going through it, you have to understand where I came from, and what my goals were when I got into wrestling.

See, back in 1985, there was a program on 20/20 that challenged the wrestling industry, kind of portrayed it in a negative light. And Tommy, if you’re listening, try to understand that I was about the world’s biggest wrestling fan. And for me to stand in front of that television set and see people running down a business that I loved and held dear, even though I knew very little about it. To see my friends laughing at me, saying, “That’s what you want to get involved in?”

And that night I went to bed not with visions of sugar plumbs dancing through my head, but of broken bones, of battered bodies, of bloodied corpses, saying to myself, “If it’s the last thing I do, if I have to hold myself up for a human sacrifice, the world will respect professional wrestling.” Oh, and that dream came through. Yes, I’ve sacrificed myself for the past ten years and left the better part of my past lying on concrete floors, from Africa to Asia to South America to right into the middle of the ECW Arena.

And what’s it really done? Where have we really come to, lying in a hospital bed in Munich, Germany, watching my ear being thrown out into a garbage can, not being able to take it on the trip back because I don’t know the German word for formaldehyde. And having the nurse walk into my room, looking at that piece of my body that’s laying at the bottom of the garbage and saying “Das ist doch alles ein Schauspiel.”, which means “It’s all a big joke.” Excuse me, I didn’t know! Do you open up the lungs of a smoker and say, “Oh my golly, I thought smoking was supposed to be good for you.” Do you open up Terry Funk’s non-functioning liver and say, “Oh, I didn’t know four decades of heavy drinking took this kind of toll.” So if they show that much respect to a patient, what made me any different?

Because I was a wrestler, and professional wrestling will never be respected, no matter how many teeth I lose, no matter how many ears I lose, no matter how many brain cells have to die. And so it comes down to the point where it’s just not worth it. It’s not worth it, and Tommy Dreamer, you’ve gotta start looking realistically at wrestling as a way to make a living, nothing more and nothing less. And as long as it’s strictly business, well, you may as well be cuddled in the welcoming arms of World Championship Wrestling because ECW fans will be the death of you.

You see, they realized, and they were smarter than any of us, that they rule ECW wrestling, not us. What happened, Tommy? You came back from All Japan Wrestling with your trunks and your boots and said, “By golly, I’m gonna wrestle.” Did Giant Baba hand you a dozen eggs and say, “Hit these on Jumbo Tsuruta’s head?” You’re a disgrace to the profession, Tommy. You’re becoming a damn fool, and I can’t sit back there and take it, because I’ve got a moral obligation!

You see, when I survey the wasteland that is professional wrestling, Tommy, try to understand, I am but a failed experiment in human sociology. And I can accept that. But never in my sickest dreams did I imagine that there would be other people taking dives onto concrete floors, committing human suicide on my behalf, like I’m the patron saint of those sick sons of bitches. Is that all I stand for, Tommy? Is that all I stand for to sit in an arena where JT Smith lands head-first on the concrete to hear the fans chant, “You fucked up.” Well, fuck you! Who the hell do you think you are? We’re not a wrestling organization anymore, we’re the world’s damn biggest puppet show. And I’ll be damned if I’m gonna stand in the arena and let you call my match. “1, 2 ,3 jump, 1, 2, 3 jump.”

Well not me because I’m nobody’s stooge, and Tommy Dreamer, if you had a little bit of pride or a little bit of common sense, you’d realize those people don’t love you, they laugh at you. You took the worst beating this sport’s ever seen and they still laughed in your face. And I stood there with my arm around you six months ago and endorsed you saying, “He’s hardcore, he’s hardcore.” Well, for that I deserve to die a terrible, painful death, Tommy, because I feel responsible. And I go to bed at night and I’m not sure where I’m going to spend my eternity. And you, Tommy [laughs], you’re my salvation, because by delivering you to a better organization where you can be appreciated, loved, and held with just the littlest amount of respect in the Turner family, then maybe there’s a chance for me, too.

So please, Tommy, for my sake, think it over. Because a ‘yes’ to Cactus Jack would mean a great deal to me. And a ‘no’, well, I’d have to take that as you’re putting a big ‘okay’ stamp of approval on my eternal damnation! I’m counting on you, you little selfish bitch! Don’t make me hurt you, because I can. Don’t make me do it, and if I do with God as my witness, it won’t be in front of those little scumbags at the ECW Arena. It will just be me and you Tommy, and you don’t know when it’s coming and you don’t know where. So, unless you wish to damn me to the depths of hell, answer my call and say, “Okay, Cactus, you win, I’ll put on the suspenders, I’ll groom that mustache and I’ll call Uncle Eric and say, ‘Count me in.'”

Because not only would you be doing yourself a big favor, not only would you be helping your life, you’d be saving mine. You’d be saving mine. You’d be saving mine!”

Fans and critics have praised the promo for its raw emotion, storytelling, and authenticity. It humanizes Cactus Jack, showing vulnerability and trauma behind the anti-hardcore mask. Many see it as one of the most compelling promos in ECW history, blending personal history with a critique of the industry.

In short, the promo wasn’t just a feud moment — it was Cactus Jack’s way of defending his philosophy, his career, and his respect for wrestling as a profession, while simultaneously attacking the hardcore trend he felt was devaluing the sport.

I was just watching this promo. And, I was never able to convince my children of how great pro wrestling is. But, my youngest, my 12 year old, heard the passion in Cactus’s voice and came into my office from the kitchen where he was doing dishes and asked with genuine concern in his voice, he asked, “Dad… what happened to him? Is he going to be all right?” Go watch it here: https://youtu.be/LdkIsX0cdBE?si=ehd5SG3rpm748H_T

“Major League Wrestling announced the return of its flagship series, MLW Fusion. The show has been on hiatus since 2023, but the league will usher in a new era with a special two-hour premiere on Saturday, May 30.

Following the premiere episode, MLW Fusion will air hour-long episodes free every Saturday at 6:05 PM ET on YouTube. Fusion will also air Saturday nights at 10 PM ET on beIN Sports.

“6:05 is sacred ground,” said MLW Founder and CEO Court Bauer. “That time slot belongs to the history of this sport as made famous by legendary Ted Turner. We’re not just bringing back a weekly show — we’re planting our flag and celebrating wrestling’s southern soul. MLW Fusion is back, it’s free, and it’s built for the fans who remember what Saturday night wrestling felt like.”

MLW boasts new roster additions such as Shotzi, Lady Frost, Trevor Lee, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang, and Big Damo. Additionally, the league brought in rising names like Brick Savage, Zamaya, and Jay Bishop who join a stacked roster with the likes of MLW World Heavyweight Champion Killer Kross, Matt Riddle, the legendary Mistico, The Good Brothers, and Bishop Dyer.”

📰 MLW NEWS & RUMORS

Trevor Lee vs. Austin Aries signed for MLW FUSION premiere May 30

Credit: mlw.com

“The first major fight of MLW FUSION’s new era is official as Trevor Lee battles Austin Aries in a featured showdown during the special two-hour premiere Saturday, May 30 at 6:05 PM ET free on YouTube and later that night at 10 PM ET on beIN SPORTS.

As Major League Wrestling launches a new era of MLW FUSION, one of the sport’s most anticipated fights is already set for the special two-hour season premiere Saturday, May 30.

In a featured showdown, Trevor Lee collides with Austin Aries in a battle between two dangerous competitors looking to make an immediate statement.

MLW FUSION premieres free on YouTube every Saturday at 6:05 PM ET beginning May 30, with the series also airing nationally later that night at 10 PM ET on beIN SPORTS.

For Trevor Lee, the opening night spotlight represents an opportunity to prove he belongs at the front of MLW’s new wave. Fast, explosive, and fearless, Lee has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most unpredictable athletes, capable of turning a match upside down in an instant.

Standing across from him is Austin Aries, a seasoned veteran with world championship pedigree and a résumé few can rival. Calculated and relentlessly competitive, Aries enters the new season determined to remind the world exactly why he remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the game.

With a new season officially underway, the stakes are already massive. A victory on opening night could launch either man directly into the championship conversation and establish momentum heading into the summer.

Two elite competitors. One huge opportunity. One fight that could steal the entire show.

Don’t miss the special two-hour premiere of MLW FUSION Saturday, May 30 at 6:05 PM ET free at MLW’s YouTube channel, followed by the beIN SPORTS broadcast at 10 PM ET.”

Shotzi vs. Priscilla Kelly set for MLW Fusion

Credit: mlw.com

“Two undefeated wrestlers collide as Shotzi battles Priscilla Kelly in a high-stakes showdown during the special two-hour premiere of MLW FUSION on Saturday, May 30.

The fight for position in MLW’s women’s division intensifies May 30 as two undefeated competitors finally collide on the special two-hour premiere of MLW FUSION.

In a major women’s division showdown, Shotzi Blackheart clashes with Priscilla Kelly in a fight with championship implications written all over it.

The winner will move one step closer to challenging reigning MLW Women’s World Champion Shoko Nakajima.

Shotzi Blackheart enters the new season with momentum and chaos on her side. Wildly unpredictable and impossible to overlook, Shotzi thrives in high-pressure fights and has quickly become one of the most dangerous competitors in the division.

Standing opposite her is Priscilla Kelly, who has carved her own path through MLW with grit, fearlessness, and a relentless drive to prove she belongs at the very top of the women’s division. Kelly has matched Shotzi every step of the way, remaining undefeated while building serious momentum heading into the premiere.

Both women enter the fight undefeated.

Both see championship gold in their future.

But only one can keep their streak alive and move closer toward a collision with “Big Kaiju” Shoko Nakajima.

The road to the MLW Women’s World Championship begins May 30.”

ZAMAYA debuts against Carolina Cruz on MLW FUSION premiere

Credit: mlw.com

“A new force arrives in MLW as ZAMAYA makes her debut against Carolina Cruz during the special two-hour premiere of MLW FUSION.

A new threat enters the women’s division May 30 as ZAMAYA makes her long-awaited MLW debut during the special two-hour premiere of MLW FUSION.

Standing across from her will be Carolina Cruz, who looks to spoil the arrival of one of the division’s most talked-about newcomers.

But if ZAMAYA’s message is any indication, she isn’t coming to MLW to ease into the spotlight.

She’s coming to take over.

Bold, confident, and carrying an undeniable edge, ZAMAYA enters Fusion with momentum and attitude already turning heads before even stepping into an MLW ring. Every debut comes with pressure, but ZAMAYA appears ready for the moment
and ready to make an immediate statement.

Carolina Cruz, however, has no intention of becoming part of someone else’s highlight reel. Cruz has built a reputation for toughness and grit and now has the opportunity to halt the hype before it truly begins.

One wrestler wants to announce a takeover.

The other wants to shut it down before it starts.”

🟧 AEW DYNAMITE — MAY 20, 2026 (FULL MATCH‑BY‑MATCH REVIEW)

📍 Live from a packed mid‑week crowd that was red‑hot from bell to bell.

From Portland, Maine.

AEW Dynamite & Collision — May 20, 2026 Results

Credit: All Elite Wrestling, Sports Illustrated and Wrestling Inc.

The May 20, 2026 special back-to-back of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision in Portland, Maine served as the final build to Double or Nothing. Here’s a breakdown of the key matches and moments.

Dynamite Results

  • Trios Match: Ricochet, Andrade El Ídolo, and Mark Davis def. Chris Jericho & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson). The Dogs interfered, allowing El Ídolo to pin Matt Jackson. Post-match, Jack Perry hit Toa Liona with a bag of onions, sparking a brawl with The Don Callis Family, The Demand, and The Dogs — a preview of the Stadium Stampede main event.
  • Anything Goes Match: Mark Briscoe def. Tommaso Ciampa. The match was brutal, featuring kendo sticks, staplers, and barbed wire. Briscoe won after hitting a Froggy Bow and a piledriver through a barbed wire table.
  • AEW Continental Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly — Time Limit Draw (20 minutes). O’Reilly earned a future title shot at Double or Nothing with no time limit.
  • 8-Woman Tag Match: Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, Skye Blue) & Athena def. Thunder Rosa, Mina Shirakawa, and the Brawling Birds.
  • AEW World Championship: Darby Allin (c) def. “Speedball” Mike Bailey via submission (Scorpion Death Lock). MJF joined commentary, tried to help Bailey, and even attempted to shave Allin’s head — a tease for the Title vs. Hair match at Double or Nothing.

Gordon: “A most deliberate psychological tactic — and one that clearly rattled the champion.”

Collision Results

  • Katsuyori Shibata vs. Will Ospreay: Ospreay won, setting up his Owen Hart Cup run. He told Samoa Joe he has “his whole country on his back” and aims to win the Cup before challenging for the world title at All In.
  • Rush vs. TJ Crawford: Rush won.
  • 5-Minute Eliminator: Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) def. Kayla Lopez & Elle Valentine — a quick, one-sided win.
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) def. Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong via gold watch/Stokely. The titles remain on the line for Double or Nothing.

Ed: “That was less a match and more a catharsis — and the fallout is going to be seismic!”

Notable Storylines & Hype

  • Willow Nightingale revealed a shoulder injury, vacated the TBS Championship, and withdrew from the Owen Hart Cup.
  • MJF’s interference in the Dynamite main event and his “bald” threat to Allin were major Double or Nothing foreshadowing.
  • Stadium Stampede main event set: 14 men from multiple factions will collide at Double or Nothing, with Jericho & The Young Bucks’ loss to El Ídolo, Davis, and Ricochet as a key setup.

This was a high-octane, three-hour special packed with title defenses, eliminator wins, and major PPV storylines, making it one of the most action-filled nights before Double or Nothing.

“Months ago, it was considered a formality that he’s going to WWE. And I’m not here to tell you that that’s not happening anymore. But what I am telling you is that there are many people in AEW pushing for them to look into exploring their options to basically sign him.”” Credit: ringsidenews.com
